Free dental clinic services for area youth coming to Birmingham Monday

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind Monday will provide free dental service for children on Medicaid or without dental insurance.

Sarrell Dental Center is joining with AIDB to provide the service. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at the AIDB Birmingham Regional Center, 220 34th Street South.

Dozens of patients ages one to 20 are already scheduled for Monday’s dental visit.

Patients must be preregistered to participate and officials said the clinic is already full.

This is the second annual partnership between AIDB and Sarrell Dental.

The free dental program is also assisted through the JOBS Program at Department of Human Resources which provided presentations in various classes to publicize the dental services.

A waiting area will be at site and lunch will be provided for patients who remain between 11 am and 1 p.m.

Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind provides training and employment to more than 200 adults and produces several products including flags, brooms, flight bags and military neckties.The operation is a division of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.

Sarrell Dental is a nonprofit group that provides dental and vision treatment to patients age one to 20. The clinic was founded in 2004 in Anniston and has expanded to 13 additional offices including Bessemer.
