The popular PBS series “Frontline” will spotlight the Alabama-based Sarrell Dental tonight on the show’s “Dollars and Dentists,” which takes an investigative look at the dental care industry. It airs at 9 p.m. on PBS.
An Anniston-based dental clinic will be featured tonight on a nationally broadcast investigative television program about the country’s dental care system.
Dental care can be a matter of life or death. Yet more than 100 million Americans either don’t have dental insurance or simply can’t afford to see a dentist. The result? Severe pain, preventable disease, humiliation, bankruptcy and sometimes even death.
PBS is airing a Frontline documentary exploring flaws in the U.S. dental care system, such as the dearth of dentists who accept Medicaid and the dependence of uninsured individuals on emergency room care, the News Courier reported.
— In 2010, a nonprofit group named Sarrell Dental Center was providing dental and optical care for mainly poor children throughout Alabama when it collided with the American Dental Association.
